Our experts Riley Beveridge and Jordan Witte have had their ears to the ground, hearing all the latest rumours and whispers from the busiest time in the footballing calendar. Stay tuned over the next month as they give you the most comprehensive day-by-day rundown of who’s heading where.

DONE DEALS

There have been no confirmed deals completed on day five of the trade period.

ALMOST THERE

ImageThe deal taking midfielder Sharrod Wellingham from Collingwood to West Coast is nearing its climax. After days of speculation, it is understood the two parties can’t finalise a suitable trade for the 24-year-old. The Eagles are believed to be offering their second round selection, pick 38, for Wellingham, however Collingwood wants pick 17, their first round pick.

WHISPERS

Sydney’s out-of-favour forward Jesse White has officially handed in a request to be traded from the Swans. Drafted from Queensland, the 24-year-old is attracting interest from both Brisbane and the Gold Coast, and could end up at the club who doesn’t sign Kurt Tippett.

Melbourne big man Stefan Martin is likely to leave the Dees this October in the search of greater opportunities. At 198cm, Martin can play both forward and in the ruck, and has been sounded out by Collingwood, St Kilda and North Melbourne.

St Kilda, who is on the lookout for a ruckman, is also interested in 21-year-old Gold Coast player Tom Hickey.

After being relatively quiet throughout the trade period, rumours surrounding Carlton sprang to life today. St Kilda’s Raphael Clarke and Melbourne’s Jack Watts were linked to the Blues, however club CEO Greg Swann labeled both rumours ‘absolute crap’. However Swann stopped short of ruling out a potential move for Essendon forward Scott Gumbleton, who is also attracting the interest of Fremantle.

Gold Coast are set to lose another midfielder with Maverick Weller expected to depart the club this October. The 20-year-old was placed in the Suns’ leadership group for its inaugural season, however has failed to hold down a regular spot in their side. It is understood that Hawthorn are circling the young onballer.
